Sourcing
Every factual claim is tied to a primary source — the agency or official document it comes from (USCIS, the State Department, the IRS, the Department of Education, the Social Security Administration, or the Federal Register). We link to it so you can check it yourself.
Verifying figures
Dates, fees, thresholds, and deadlines are checked against the official document before publication. Where a rule is proposed but not yet in force, or is subject to litigation, we say so plainly rather than presenting it as settled.
Independence
We’re funded by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how we report it.
Corrections
If we get a fact wrong, we correct it promptly and note the change at the foot of the article. To request a correction, email corrections@expatlogic.com with the article link and the specific point in question. Significant corrections are labelled as such; minor typo fixes may be made without a note.
Updates
Rules change. We revisit evergreen guides regularly and update or unpublish anything we can no longer stand behind.
